Is what you devote your time to a real priority? Here we will consider what demands of your time? What perspective do you need to achieve time management and stress reduction? And lastly what steps to take?
Time Management Pressures
Where does our time go? Often it gets used up between the demands and responsibilities of your job, family, home, errands, friends, and commuting. So, what really is the priority? Often we confuse priorities with the whole picture of life. We expect so much of ourselves. We demand that we accomplish every little task that seems to pop up. How many times do you find yourself so busy that you get to bed at 1 or 2 am, just to get up and do it all over again? That isn’t healthy! Plus it adds to our stress level and inhibits us from effectively managing our stress. Right now we are going to do away with procrastination, over scheduling, and taking too much on yourself. These are bad habits that we all adopt. Your new plan of attack is Prioritize, Plan, Breath. Got that? Memorize it.
Time And Stress Management
1. Prioritize. This is simple write down your daily activities on a sheet of paper, now your weekly, now the monthly. Keep that list for a comparison. Now think family, job, social activities, and errands write these down in order of priority in your life. Now compare. Use the priority list as your master list then add the extra things in. With your list of errands prioritize that. From most important which would usually be grocery shopping to at the very end, which could be anything. Most often we feel that everything that puts a demand on us has to be done as soon as possible. That is all fine and good in a perfect world. But, we do not live in a perfect world. There is no need to let every small thing be a priority in life. Leave room for the more important things in life like your sanity. 2. Planning. This is another important piece of time management and stress reduction. Planning out each day can be very helpful. Make lists of to dos. Then if you feel you cannot get it all done, recruit help. Delegate tasks out. Remember if everything on your list doesn't get done don't sweat it. Tomorrow is another day. It wasn't written in concrete. Make sure your tasks are broken down into manageable chunks. Don't be afraid to say no to extra tasks. It may bother you or make you feel bad, but you will feel better when you don't have another thing to add to you already long list. Your friend asks you to pick up her kids, what are going to say? NO. Maybe next week. 3. Breath. Have you done that lately? Be realistic, don't be afraid to take breaks.
Breathing Exercises
may be of help when you have 10 minutes that you have alloted for yourself.
Time Management and Stress
reduction cannot be accomplished if you don't take time for yourself. Even in the middle of a task if you feel overwhelmed stop. Take 10 minutes to regroup. Breath. Music take 10 minutes for your favorite music.
Take a Walk
get your exercise in. Those few minutes may seem unimportant compared to the weighty responsibilities you need to finish, but those minutes can be what stops you from complete overload. If ten minutes is too much then split it up into 2 minute intervals through the day. Take five 2 minute breaks. Now that is not asking too much. Once a week it is important that you have at least 2 hours of you time. Having no personal time is not balanced. The week is hectic you deserve it. Take the weekend morning to drink coffee, read the paper, go jogging, whatever it is that you like. Remember time management and stress reduction is your goal. Doing this equals relaxation and a better version of you for the world to see. When it comes to time management and stress reduction we have to break down our preconceived ideals of our responsibilities. We tend to make small things of utmost importance. This is not the case could we talk less to whomever on the phone? Make a daily chore a weekly chore? When we really analyze our tasks a few changes can be made. Let me commend you on being a responsible person, but being responsible doesn't mean we allow it to interfere with sleep patterns, eating habits, and the more important things in life. We want to manage our time so we can be healthy happy people.
