Could Your Health Concern Be Symptoms Of Stress?

Sometimes the health issues that we encounter in our lives are actually symptoms of stress. Whether those symptoms are a lack of sleep, getting headaches, chest pains, becoming less focused and less able to concentrate, getting more anxiety attacks than usual, etc.

It may surprise some people to learn that stress can affect our entire body's physiology and mental well being.

Although everyone tolerates and reacts to stress differently, based on the level of stress that we encounter, we can all develop symptoms that, if ignored can have a very negative effect on our physical and mental health. Take a personal stress test to determine what your level of stress is.

The first step we need to take in combating these negative effects is to identify the symptoms, then figure out if our symptoms are in fact stress induced.

Fight or Flight Response

This is the body's natural way of protecting itself, and is our engaged survival response. The physical changes that happen to us during this response can be helpful, as long as they only last for a short period of time (like nature intended).

These changes become a problem when Chronic stress prolongs these behaviors in our body. Resulting in unhealthy side effects, and added health problems.

These unhealthy symptoms can be broken down into classes:

Physical Stress Symptoms describes the science of your body under stress.

Emotional Stress Symptoms explains how stress effects your emotions.

Behavioral Stress Symptoms describes behaviors that you can develop under stress.

Cognitive Stress Symptoms explains the cognitive processes of the brain under stress.

Insomnia and Stress this describes the connection of your sleep and wake cycle and the effect stress has on this cycle.

Since one of the many problems we have on our minds these days is the steady decline in our health, these issues definitely deserve our attention. Doctors are now emphasizing more than ever the importance of prevention and management.

If we were to look at it from a practical point of view, it would be similar to this: Your car needs an oil change after a certain amount of miles. What happens to your car if it goes without the needed care for too long? Engine failure. Our bodies can be likened to living machines that have specific needs for preventive maintenance.

If you think about it, it’s the same as when we try to eat healthy. We eat healthy because we want to stay healthy, and eating poorly will weaken our immunity, make us gain unnecessary weight, and give us other unnecessary complications. This prevention is already part of our lives, we just don't think about it.

Always remember that your personal health is in your hands. The decisions you make affect how healthy you are. Symptoms of Stress can be controlled if we learn to effectively manage our stress levels. Click on the link to learn more.
