click here fr full explanation. We have to take the steps to manage and prevent stress.
Stress Prevention
is the first step. Learning to identify your triggers or your causes. Do you get stressed when you are pressed on time? Or when the kids are sick and you can't get your errands run? Did your boss spring a report on you and say it's due tomorrow morning? Learn the five W's in your life. The who, what, when, why, and how stress takes over you. What stresses you out? When does it make you feel stressed? There are two options you have at this point. You can A: avoid the stressor all together, or B: challenge yourself and learn to cope and grow from the situation. The latter of the two can be very fulfilling for you. But that brings the next step. When it comes to stress we all dread the feeling, hoping it won't happen. Analyze your perspective. So ask yourself with all honesty, What is my perspective in a stressful situation? Do I look at the situation in a positive point of view? Do I see an upside to it? Do I see room for me to grow as a person, or improve on my coping skills?
Postive Attitude
Martha Washington said..." I am still determined to be happy, in whatever situation I may be; for I have also learned from my experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends upon our disposition not upon our circumstances." This is very true. If we go about our troubles with a attitude of woe is me I have stress on me again, the pressure will feel greater. We have the power to change our circumstances through our outlook. Negative thinking can become much like a disease, infecting and spilling into all aspects of your life. Negativity clouds your judgment, stunts personal growth, and incapacitates you in handling a situation with grace. Stay away from being cynical, overcritical, and negative for your own sake. The next step in stress prevention is to cultivate within ourselves positive personality traits such as; calmness, self control, mildness, forethought. These traits will better serve you and your loved ones if a situation occurs. Also these traits change your perspective on the stressor itself. After putting one or some of these into practice you might see how some of the stressors do not cause you as much stress anymore. Control yourself. That is the key. We cannot control everything in life. So control the one thing you know you can, Yourself. Anticipate. You can anticipate your reaction to a stressor. If you think about the pattern of stress in your life you can easily identify what stresses you. At that point you can think beforehand what is your emotional tendency is? Do I immediately get angry or cry? Do I have the tendency to run away from the situation? If you are not satisfied with the reaction you normally give. Change the pattern of thinking on that particular problem. In your mind play out how you will act. Visualize the reaction. If you visualize it you will more than likely be able to recall that memory in the event of stress.
Stress Relief Humor
Once again an aspect of stress prevention is your perspective. How do you view stress relief humor? What is your normal reaction to stress? While some situations are not humorous at all. You can have a perspective of being prone to laugh off the small stuff. Laughing does a lot for your body in a stressful situation. Laughing is a tool of stress prevention. Laughter lowers your blood pressure.
Flight or Fight Response
from stress causes your blood pressure to raise. When you laugh you breath deeper increasing the oxygen to your body, this helps with stress management. Laughter also eases muscle tension. This is a win/win situation for you and your body. Your body feels the positive effects of the laughter and your mood goes from stressed to elated. Have someone to communicate with. Communication is a therapy in itself. That is why the therapy business is doing so well. You should feel a release of bottled emotions when you let it all out. If you don't feel comfortable with sharing a particular problem with someone, journal it. Write until your heart is content. On paper you have such freedom. You can't hurt anyone's feelings, you can't say the wrong thing, you can let it rip. Doing this before the stressor is overwhelming is the key to stress prevention.
Time Management
Schedule your time out well. Keep a schedule. One of the leading causes of stress is poor
time management.
Prioritize. Take one task at a time. Multi tasking can be good, only if it does not stress you out. Think about when a good friend tells you they are stressed out to the max, what do you tell them? Take a break, a personal day, a vacation, something! We give the same advice to you. Stop take a few moments to recuperate. Once you feel you are ready to resume your activity, do so. The important thing is to take a small amount of time each day to DE-stress. During that time you can do some stress prevention
relaxation techniques.
