All of these are an everyday part of our life. We can choose to let them control us or we can choose to control them. Much of what contributes to our stress level can be prevented if properly handled. Each of these categories can be further broke down into our particular stressors. Each one of our stress causes can be classified as either internal stresses or external stresses. Both with the proper techniques or help can be addressed and managed. Often any one of these stress causes that are introduced suddenly in our lives is not a cause for major alarm. It is usually the abrupt introduction of two or more of these stress causes that gets us overwhelmed. What medical studies show is when a particular stressor is unrelenting as humans our body's' do not always adapt well. Hence our body gets overloaded and we feel the impact in our health. The exception to this thought is traumatic stress. This type of stress deals with serious life changing events. These events cause us deep emotional pain, and often require professional help. Another exception is health issues which can in certain instances be classified in traumatic stress. Serious health issues whether yours or a loved one can have dramatic effects on your emotional well-being and your nerves. Both should be treated with sensitivity and not ignored.
Handling Stress
For all of us it really boils down to how we react to the stress causes. In every situation we have choices. Choices with our thinking, reaction, and how we choose to remember the stressor. How so? THINKING. How do you feel when an unexpected situation comes up? Do you automatically assume the negative? Much of how you view the situation will cause the reaction you give. There is always positive in a situation however bleak it may seem. If the circumstances are horrible you know you can at the very least grow and learn from it. We are never at the peak of our maturity and grace. We can always grow to be better people. Maybe even help others with what we have learned if they face the same situation. Positive Thinking tips and techniques for you. REACTION. Are you the ostrich or the bull? Being an ostrich do you bury your head in the sand or into your pillow? Are you the bull? Do you see red and charge, so full of anger or rage ready to make a good offense? Either of these behaviors is unhealthy. You have to find a balance. If you learn to be balanced you will handle the stress better and be a more desirable person to be around. Ask yourself these questions. How bad is the situation and how can I change it for the better? Can I contribute something positive to the situation? What was my immediate reaction in my mind to the situation, and is there room for improvement? What is my normal reaction? How will I Turn this stress into a manageable experience? That is not to say that you will not have down days or cry. What we are saying is there is find a balance between the two so you can feel less stressed. you do have power over your reaction. Use it for the good. HOW WILL I CHOOSE TO REMEMBER MY STRESS CAUSES? You have mastery over your own outlook. How you choose to remember the stressor has an impact on how you will handle a similar situation when it arises. If you felt hurt and angry over a specific challenge in the past you will likely associate that memory with any new challenge that proves to be similar. This memory association will have an effect on your immediate reaction whether for the positive or the negative.Remember your memory is a powerful tool, and you can control with a little effort, your feelings on the matter. So regardless of the situation you can analyze and control how you will react. Don’t dwell on undue anxiety. If nothing can be done, don’t sweat it. Move on. Take it as it comes.
