Heart Disease And Stress

What Is the Link Between The Two,
And How Serious Is It?

Heart disease and stress what are the risks? Am I a candidate for heart disease because I get stressed out? These are good questions that should be on everyone's mind.

We hear and sometimes say so often that my job, or some other stressful factor in life is killing us. What if we told you that stress can contribute to a very dangerous disease that is the number one killer in America? Would you take your heart health seriously then?

Stress is just part of our everyday life. It is impossible to rid your life of stress. It is possible though, to reduce, the level of chronic stress you have to encounter. Chronic stress causes your body to release ,stress hormones at a persistent rate. These hormones have damaging effects on your body. One of the most infamous hormones is stress hormone cortisol

Medical studies show that heart disease and stress are directly linked to the elevated levels of these hormones.

Stress also raises the levels of an amino acid called homocysteine. This amino acid is produced naturally in the body as part of the protein metabolism, but if this rises to unhealthy levels it increases the risk of heart disease and stress.

How? Homocysteine increases the production of plaque blockage in your arteries. Plaque is calcified inflammatory tissue with fats, it gathers at the artery walls gradually narrowing the walls of your arteries. This reduces the oxygen-enriched blood from properly flowing to the heart.

Stress Behaviors

Whether heart disease and stress are directly related doctors will not specifically say. That being so, your doctor will tell you to reduce your stress level if you feel you are at risk for heart disease. Why?

Well, stress can move you to behaviors that contribute to damaging

Heart disease symptoms can come from behaviors that we adopt due to stress. If you are under chronic stress you are more likely to adopt unhealthy habits. These habits include smoking, not exercising, and eating an unhealthy diet.

A Heart Healthy Diet is key to your heart health. Yet once again our habits and behaviors can be the factor that causes specific health issues.

Such as:

Hypertension and Stress. (or what is called high blood pressure)

Stress and high cholesterol ,Triglycerides, Food Intake, good and bad cholesterol.

These are risks that add to heart disease and stress. These health issues are not hopeless. You can get these issues under control with the help of your physician.

Your doctor can also discuss with you heart disease treatment. It would be of benefit if we put thought into heart disease prevention . Prevention has many factors that contribute to your health and wellness. Prevention includes; your nutrition plan, your outlook on stress, your attitude toward life stressors, and your resilience to common problems.

Heart disease is a serious concern that we should not ignore. Your body is a beautiful, intricate creation that affords you precious quality of life. When it comes to your stress level if you take the time to Identify, Manage, and Prevent you can avoid health complications down the road of life.
