Proper Exercise Reduces Stress
If I exercise will I really feel less stressed? You can be sure that exercise reduces stress, that of which our life seems to have so much of. What about these endorphins that I hear so much about, what are they? Exercise has many effects on the body and it's biochemistry. One thing is for sure it has a positive effect on your stress level. When your body gets stressed it automatically releases stress hormones such as cortisol, adrenaline, ect. When these hormones are not balanced from within the body they have a negative effect on your health. One way to reverse this is to exercise.
Exercise Reduces Stress
proven facts! The more you exercise the less stressed you will feel.
Reduce Stress With Exercise
Exercise reduces stress by releasing endorphins. WIKIPEDIA classifies endorphin as…”consisting of two parts: endo- and -orphin; these are short forms of the words endogenous and morphine, intended to mean "a morphine like substance originating from within the body." These endorphins are chemicals that are produced in our brain as a result of stimuli. Endorphins lock into the receptors in the nervous system. These receptors would normally send the message to the brain that there is some form of pain. That endorphin prevents the message from transmitting to the brain. This hormone also cooperates with the opiate receptors in your brain to askew your perception of pain. Being that stress causes us mental and physical anguish. Endorphins act as a natural drug relieving the symptoms of stress. At this point we feel less of the negative effects of the stressor. Exercise has another positive effect on our brain. It causes neurogenesis. This is the formation of new neurons. How this happens is during exercise calcium is produced, this activates the copying reaction of the existing hippocampus neurons. From here it causes the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene to create proteins that act to cause neurogenesis. Thus new neurons! (BDNF) is also known to boost the production of the hormone serotonin in the body. This hormone aids in the regulation of sleep and mood. During physical activity circulation of blood flow to the brain is improved. This brings needed sugars and oxygen to the brain. This is important because stress requires one to think on a more concentrated level, therefore our cognitive abilities are improved and you think clearer. We can see that exercise has a profound effect on our stress level. Exercise reduces stress and addresses our symptoms of mental distress, and it reduces the physical impact it can have on our stress.
